By the way, that car is a 1985 Lincoln Town Car and this is not Top Gear, it’s Jeremy Clarkson’s Motorworld. First off, some of you are taking Clarkson way too seriously. This is comedy. Clarkson is a comedian. If you want a serious review, go somewhere else.
And for you Town Car haters, this car was meant for comfort and luxury, not handling and power (which was a measly 134 bhp to propel the 4000 lb car), and American roads are very straight and wide.
Very funny “review”.

yes, british leyland, even more rubbish. how many morris marina’s or austin maxi’s still around hey? probably 20 or 30 at most. At least with this car, they’re still around and in their 1000′s and around the world. US cars are built to last forever.

Say what you want about Clarkson, (I find him hilarious, and honest). He’ll rip a Mercedes just as soon as he’ll bash a Chrysler. There was a Merc a couple series back that had so much brake horsepower (over 700) it was undrivable around corners. Clarkson had no problems calling the new (’10) Porsche Carrera an ugly car. I couldn’t watch the US version of Top Gear it was so boring. At least with the UK version, you get to see the best cars in the world. It’s just that not many are made here.

what makes me laugh the most about all these comments is the fact the title states Cars when in fact Jeremy only takes about 1 car. All comments based on “not true there is xyz car” yes of course there is, in every decade there is.

@anditslikethat .yes, but this my point. They do build soft riding cars, but they also build cars that are firm as well. Having a variety isn’t a bad thing. Some people like soft riding cars but then they have the Neon, avenger, and Cadillacs CTS-V for other preferences.
As for the Neon..The R/T isn’t bottom of the range model admittedly, but the Neon as a model itself is Chryslers affordable average compact, the same as the Golf is VW s compact.. Chrysler don’t make any cars ‘golf’ size.

@hawksleyart01 A Neon R/T is not an average car, it is the performance version of the Neon, in fact it was built for SCCA autocrossing in mind.
And there is no reason why American manufacturers MUST build soft-riding cars just because American roads are different than European roads. Millions of Americans drive European cars because they prefer them.
